Dulu website bisa cukup menjawab satu pertanyaan:

“Ini perusahaan siapa?”

Sekarang muncul pertanyaan baru:

Bagaimana authentication?

Informasi ini bukan branding cosmetic.

Ini bagian dari discovery.

MCP pun punya authorization layer untuk client mengakses restricted server resources atas nama resource owner.

Ketika action dan permission masuk, identity ambiguity menjadi security problem.

Nama Agent Bisa Dipalsukan

Bayangkan ada agent bernama:

“Official Travel Booking Indonesia.”

Apakah official?

Official milik siapa?

Domain?

Organization?

Endpoint?

Credential?

Authorization?

Kalau user hanya melihat nama, terlalu lemah.

Machine juga membutuhkan chain:

Agent → operatedBy → Organization.

Organization → officialDomain → Domain.

Agent → serviceEndpoint → URL.

Agent → capabilities → declared skills.

Authorization → resource owner.

Certificate/keys/authentication according protocol.

Tidak semua relation harus public Schema.org.

Sebagian hidup di protocol metadata.

Tetapi canonical identity architecture internal harus tahu.

Agent bukan entity tanpa owner.

Agent, Tool, dan Organization Jangan Disamakan

Ini mirip artikel entity type sebelumnya, tetapi consequence lebih besar.

Organization:
PT Nusa Travel.

Agent:
Nusa Booking Agent.

Tool:
SearchFlight.

API:
api.nusatravel.id.

Product:
Nusa Travel Platform.

Brand:
Nusa.

Semua related.

Tidak same entity.

Jika metadata agent memakai Organization name sebagai agent ID, developer bisa manage, tapi graph semantically harus distinguish.

Why?

Capability changes.

Agent version changes.

Tool deprecated.

Organization persists.

If agent compromised, company identity not deleted.

If company rebrands, agent relation updated.

Canonical IDs allow lifecycle.

Machine Identity Needs Stable Identifiers

Display name can change.

“Booking Assistant.”

“Travel Concierge.”

“Nusa Agent.”

Stable machine ID should not change casually.

Could be URI.

Agent Card URL.

Service endpoint identity.

Internal ID.

Public identifier according protocol.

The exact mechanism depends system.

Principle:

Name is label.

Identifier is anchor.

This echoes web entity architecture.

Stable ID + current metadata + provenance.

Without stable ID, agent history fragments.

Authorization logs become confusing.

Monitoring can't distinguish version.

Security incident harder.

Versioning Agent Identity

Agent v1.

v2.

v3.

Is it same agent updated?

New agent?

Capability changed?

Security policy changed?

Tool list changed?

Need version record.

Canonical identity doesn't mean frozen metadata.

It means stable lineage.

Example:

AGENT-001.
Name changed.
Version 3.2.
Operator same.
Endpoint moved.
Old endpoint deprecated.
Capabilities updated.

Logs still map same logical agent.

If major redesign creates new trust boundary, maybe new identity.

Governance decides.

Don't let deployment pipeline randomly generate new identity each restart.

Canonical Organization Identity Becomes Root of Trust Context

When agent says:

“I represent Brand X,”

system needs verify operator.

Official organization domain.

Deployment.

Metadata.

Authentication.

Legal/public ownership.

This is not solved by Organization schema alone.

Organization schema can help web understanding.

Protocol identity uses its own mechanisms.

Security authentication uses cryptographic/protocol mechanisms.

Corporate registry may verify legal entity.

Different layers.

Canonical identity architecture links them.

Do not use `sameAs` as security control.

A JSON-LD statement cannot authenticate a network actor.

This distinction is critical.

Web Identity vs Security Identity

Web identity:
Who is this organization?

Structured data.

About page.

Public profiles.

Canonical URL.

Security identity:
Who controls this request/credential?

OAuth.

Tokens.

Certificates.

Client identity.

Server authentication.

Authorization.

Agent systems need both.

Public graph can say agent belongs Organization.

Security layer must independently verify access.

Never treat public metadata as proof of authorization.

Attackers can copy metadata.

This is why machine identity gets serious when actions have consequences.

Dialog yang Akan Makin Biasa

Product:
“Kita mau agent bisa book appointment.”

Security:
“Agent yang mana?”

Product:
“Brand assistant.”

“Credential-nya siapa?”

“Shared service account.”

“Scope?”

“Semua calendar.”

“User confirmation?”

“Belum.”

“Operator identity?”

“Di README.”

Meeting berhenti.

Good.

Agentic feature turns identity into access architecture.

Canonical naming and graph matter, but authorization policy matters more when action begins.

Least privilege.

Confirmation.

Audit.

Cancellation.

Identity is prerequisite, not total security solution.

Agent Capability Harus Terikat ke Identity

Agent Card can declare skills/capabilities.

Internal registry should map:

Agent ID.

Operator.

Capability.

Endpoint.

Required permission.

Data source.

Risk class.

Version.

Owner.

Evidence/test.

Why?

Agent name can be same while capability changes.

One version read-only.

Next can purchase.

Huge risk difference.

If capability list not governed, discovery metadata becomes misleading.

Canonical identity means capability statements belong to known actor/version.

Not free-floating claims.

Tool Identity Is Also Important

MCP server can expose tools.

Tool names often generic:

search.

create_order.

send_email.

delete_file.

If multiple servers expose `search`, which one?

Tool identity should be scoped by server/namespace.

Provenance.

Operator.

Permission.

Input schema.

Output.

Side effects.

Agent must know.

This is less about SEO, more machine operations.

Why relevant to GEO.or.id?

Because agentic web readiness extends entity architecture from content entities into executable entities.

The web is not only pages.

It becomes actors.

Canonical Product Identity Meets Agent Identity

Commerce agent:

“Buy Product X.”

Need product ID.

Merchant.

Offer.

Agent operator.

Payment authority.

User authorization.

Shipping address.

Every step identity-bound.

If Product X ambiguous, wrong item.

If merchant ambiguous, fraud.

If agent ambiguous, unauthorized action.

If user principal ambiguous, privacy breach.

Agentic workflows multiply identity requirements.

Canonical identity isn't one page.

It's system discipline.

Machine Identity Should Be Discoverable but Not Overexposed

Public agent metadata can include:

Name.

Description.

Capabilities.

Service endpoint.

Authentication requirements.

Documentation.

Operator.

Version.

But not:

Private credentials.

Internal network names.

Secrets.

Unpublished tools.

Sensitive scopes.

Discovery and security need balance.

Public machine-readable does not mean publish everything.

Same principle as public vs internal KG.

Metadata is attack surface.

Security review.

Canonical Domain Relationship

Official agent discovery endpoint should live on or be verifiably associated with official domain.

If agent metadata hosted third-party platform, relationship to Organization must be clear.

Example:

Organization site documents official agent.

Agent Card references operator.

Third-party host authenticated.

No single method universal.

But user should be able to verify.

Fraud risk grows as agents act.

A fake “official customer support agent” is more dangerous than fake blog.

Entity governance becomes security hygiene.

AI Agents Need Fresh Identity State

Agent retired.

Endpoint dead.

Capability removed.

Organization revoked.

Public metadata stale.

Another system may still discover.

Need status.

active.

deprecated.

retired.

compromised/revoked, internally.

Effective date.

Replacement.

A2A/MCP ecosystems evolve.

Canonical registry needs lifecycle.

Don't leave abandoned agent endpoint public with old permissions.

Deprecation is identity governance.

Rebranding Agent Ecosystem

Company rebrands.

Old brand agent.

New brand site.

Old agent card.

What now?

If same Organization/operator:

Update display name.

Canonical operator relation.

Redirect discovery docs.

Keep stable identity if appropriate.

If agent replaced:
deprecate old.

Don't duplicate both active unless intended.

Users may ask old name.

Provide transition.

Machine systems may cache metadata.

Version.

Again, identity migration.

Measurement for Machine Identity Is Different from AI Visibility

Don't use mention rate.

Operational metrics:

Discovery success.

Correct operator resolution.

Endpoint validity.

Authentication success.

Authorization rejection/acceptance.

Capability accuracy.

Version mismatch.

Revocation propagation.

Audit completeness.

Security incidents.

For public AI search, we can still monitor whether agent/product/company identity is described correctly.

But machine agent identity has protocol-level metrics.

Don't collapse into “AI visibility score”.

Different layer.

Canonical Identity Is Not a Ranking Factor Claim

This must stay explicit.

We can say:

AI agents need identity information for discovery and secure interaction.

A2A Agent Cards carry identity and capability metadata.

MCP authorization connects clients, resource owners, and protected servers.

We cannot say:

“Canonical identity boosts ChatGPT ranking.”

No.

Agentic protocol readiness is not citation optimization.

It may indirectly make systems easier to integrate, but external ranking/citation requires separate evidence.

Do not commercialize protocol facts into unsupported GEO claims.

Organization Page Still Matters

Even in agentic world, human verification remains.

User sees:
Who operates agent?

Privacy policy?

Support?

Terms?

Security contact?

Company identity?

Agent metadata can link to documentation.

Canonical Organization page gives human trust layer.

Machine protocol gives operational identity.

Security gives authentication.

All three align.

This is ideal.

If one conflicts:

Agent says operator Brand A.

Website says Brand B.

OAuth issuer Company C.

User confused.

Security team concerned.

Identity graph should flag.

Internal Machine Identity Registry

For organizations building agents:

machine_entity_id.

type:
agent/server/tool/API.

display name.

operator Organization ID.

official endpoint.

protocol.

version.

capabilities.

permission class.

auth method.

data domains.

owner team.

status.

created.

deprecated.

docs.

security contact.

public visibility.

This is source of truth.

Public projection generates Agent Card/docs.

Security system references ID.

Logs reference ID.

Now identity operational.

Not marketing metadata.

Unknown State Must Be Allowed

Client discovers agent metadata but operator verification uncertain.

Do not auto-trust.

Mark unknown.

Need verification.

Same if capability unsupported.

Agent systems should fail safely.

Website entity teams need same mindset.

Unknown > invented relation.

Canonical identity architecture isn't about forcing everything into graph.

It's about knowing where certainty ends.

Why Machine Identity Makin Penting?

Because consequences change.

A page can misinform.

An agent can act.

A page can recommend wrong product.

An agent can purchase wrong product.

A page can show wrong company.

An agent can send data to wrong server.

As systems gain agency, identity error moves from content quality to operational risk.

This is the biggest shift.

GEO teams that only think in keywords will miss it.

Knowledge graph teams that only think in schema will miss it.

Security teams that ignore public entity identity will also miss part of trust chain.

Machine identity is cross-functional.

Canonical Identity Is a Contract

For humans:

“This is who we are.”

For machines:

“This identifier refers to this actor.”

For protocols:

“This endpoint/capability belongs to this actor under these rules.”

For security:

“This credential is authorized for this scope.”

For governance:

“This identity has owner, version, status, and audit trail.”

That's the future-proof definition.

Not one meta tag.

Not one JSON-LD block.

Not one Agent Card.

A coordinated identity system.

If AI agents become more common across commerce, support, productivity, and enterprise workflows, organizations that cannot answer “who is acting, for whom, with what authority?” will have a bigger problem than low visibility.

They will have a trust problem.

Canonical identity is how that question starts getting a defensible answer.
